Get Connected

Getting connected is about setting up your communications and resource account so you are fully connected with Oakland University Information Technology Resources.  Resources include email, network access, and MySAIL access.

At Oakland University, technology plays an important role in the management of your academic life, if you are a student, or your work environment and communications, if you are an employee. This guide provides instructions to get connected by activating your accounts.

The OU identification number is called the GrizzlyID number, a system-generated number that includes one letter (G) and eight numbers and is your assigned student number. The GrizzlyID number is NOT related to your GrizzCard, and the number on your GrizzCard is not usable to information technology resources. You need a GrizzlyID and PIN to start the process of activating your NetID.

Using your NetID, you will login to the MySAIL portal, check your email, read about campus activities, register for classes, review the course catalog, run progress to degree, process grades, and track financial aid status. You can access all the features of MySAIL with your NetID. You can use your NetID to login to the Moodle online learning environment for full online courses and supplemental resources for classroom instruction. When you use the extensive campus wireless network, you must also register your device with your NetID.Verify Your MySAIL Login

Visit the MySAIL portal and verify that you can successfully login.

Active Directory (ADMNET) Accounts

Active Directory accounts are created for faculty, staff, students (including student employees), and other authorized individuals when their NetID account is created using http://iam.400online.net/picknetid.

Existing students (including student employees) own ADMNET accounts. To activate the account, it is required to reset their password using NetID Password Manager utility located at http://netid.400online.net. This utility will set the NetID, Google and ADMNET to the same password.

Keep Your Account Credentials Private

Once you have set up your GrizzlyID, PIN, NetID, and Password, keep these account credentials private. Never share these credentials in email or text messages. All University help operations need only your NetID or the last four digits of your GrizzlyID. University offices will never need your passwords or PINS, or your full GrizzlyID number.

Verify any email that is sent to you before you click on a link to enter credentials. Do not click on links in email that ask you to login. Do not enter any account credentials to login on a web site unless you have verified the site. Also, do not re-use the same password across multiple websites, like social media or shopping sites.

Verify Your MySAIL Login

Visit the MySAIL portal and verify that you can successfully login.

Verify Your Access to Email

Enter your NetID and password at OU Webmail to access your email. Make sure you're logging into your Oakland email for important updates, like when to pay your eBill. Students can also access email through the MySAIL portal.

Verify Student Access to eBill

To provide quick, convenient service and eliminate mailing delays, Student Business Services sends billing notifications electronically to each student’s OU e-mail address. Students use NetID/Password to login to the eBill system to check their billings and account status. Students are responsible for accessing their eBill account each month to view their account balance and confirm payment due dates. eBill is the preferred way for students to pay their bill. For more information about eBill, refer to the Student Financial Services website.
